Cause and Effect

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." To me, this quote represents a widely known fact, that one person effects many in their lifetime. You might not realize it but by just reading this post you are having an effect on someone else. It might be that in reading this you might go to the grocery store twenty minutes later and bump into an old friend, or that on the way to the grocery store you accidentaly cut someone off and in turn make them late for something. Every little action causes an effect, and that effect causes another effect. The chain goes on and on. However, this quote also represents something else, inevitability. It is inevitable that you will start one of these chains or play a part in one, no one can avoid it. But to me, it is the way you start that chain that can have a positive outcome. Maybe it is that one of your friends told you a joke in the morning that lifted your spirits and you go on through the day in a good mood, and later on that day you tell that joke with a lonely person you see and it makes them laugh. That joke just might have made that person change their mind about going home and ending their life. These chains are are both positive and negative, they happen during every second of every day and are eternal. These chains are what cause us to live our lives the way we do and make the choices we make. Therefore, it is up to us to make those chains positive and make smart choices to better our lives and the lives of those around us.
