Lives Connected

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." To me this means that everything truly does happen for a reason. It's as if our lives were already planned for us when we were born and we are just figuring out the path as we go; not knowing the effect our lives have on someone else's. In the novel The Five People you meet in Heaven, Eddie unknowingly killed the Blue Man. Eddie had no idea that he had been the cause of his death. He was also without a clue that if the blue man hadn't died, Eddie himself would be the one being buried at that funeral. There was nothing Eddie could have done to change fate. The blue man died so Eddie could live on. Though they were both strangers, they both played the biggest role in each other's lives. That brings me to the conclusion that many others have already come to reach, that we are all connected. Everything we do in life will have an impact on someone else's life in either a positive or negative way and we can't stop that no matter what. Whether it's a family member, a friend, or a complete stranger, we can't help but affect them in some way. It's just how we live our lives as humans. In the novel The Five People you Meet in Heaven, the blue man said, "It is because the human spirit knows, deep down, that all lives intersect. That death doesn't just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed."
