Linked With Others

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." (Albom 48) This quote was stated by the Blue Man in the book The Five People You Meet In Heaven. To me this quote means that there is a purpose for everything that happens. That purpose could be positive or negative. That everything we do will effect others. We may know them or they could be a complete stranger. The last sentence in the quote states "That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." This sentence to me means that we are all linked by our actions. You can not do something without effecting someone else, so you can not separate yourself from someone else because everything you do effects them. It is similar to the domino effect. You set up dominoes in a row and you knock down the first one and they all fall down after that. What I am trying to say is when you knocked down the first domino it effected the rest of them because they fell down after it. It is the same way with people. Lets say you stopped a child from running across the road when a car was coming. You saved the child's life. That same child grew up and found a cure to cancer, if you did not stop that child from walking out in front of that car there would not be a cure for cancer. The lesson I am trying to teach with these examples is that everything effects everything.Everyone effects everyone. Our actions effect other's actions. That is what this quote means to me.
