Cause and Effect

When Eddie meets the blue man he tells him, "That there are no random acts that we are all connected. That you can no more separate the breeze from the wind." This quote means to me that from the most trivial acts to the most significant acts, all have an effect on someone else. Whether the effect is positive or negative, we are all connected by cause and effect. Every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause. From helping a person pick up books they have dropped, and saving a person’s life can change someone’s day or change someone's life. When Eddie made the sacrifice of taking his life to save a little girl’s life, he made a dramatic impact. That little girl grew up, graduated, started a career, married, had kids, and had grandkids. That girl will impact many people's lives, and many people will impact hers. When Eddie saved her life, he did not impact just one person's life, but many people's lives. The quote also shows that no man is an island; we were all put here on earth for a reason. While causes can be positive, they can be negative as well. Eddie's negative cause was running into the street to chase after a ball. Eddie irresponsibly running into the street gave the blue man a heart attack and killed him. If Eddie had never run into the street then the blue man probably would have lived longer. Your decisions influence more people than you know. We must be cautious to how and to whom our decisions and actions affect.
