The quote from the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.", means a lot to me in the sense that it helps me to remember that I'm not just living for myself, that I'm living for all the people that came before and after me, the people I know and the people I don't, the ones I love and the ones I despise. I see this quote from multiple perspectives, in a way. I chose to see this quote as almost demeaning as well as empowering; through all my years growing up I was treated well and appreciated and I was always told that all that mattered was whether or not I was happy, but this quote shows me that maybe my happiness isn't the only thing I need to worry about but it also helps me see that I definitely have a purpose in life and I have to remember that. It provided me with a different perspective on life and it made me want to start living for the people around me as well as myself. My life impacts many other lives and I intend to do as much as I can to make that impact positive.
The Blue Man was a very influential character to me. He lived a hard life and when his life finally met its turning point, it was taken away. He knew his death was Eddie's fault but the only person who seemed to blame him was Eddie himself. Upon meeting the blue man, Eddie asked him what good came from his death from his death and the Blue Man responds with, "Your life." and that's really impressive. He took all the immense pain of his life, as well as his death, and he chose to forget it. It is very wonderful ability to have, the ability to forgive, and his character really inspires me to try to forgive more; the simple act of forgiveness can completely change someone's perspective of life. After meeting the Blue Man, Eddie's demeanor completely changed and I think that shows how easily you can change someone's life.
Despite my thoughts previous to reading this novel, I really enjoyed the way it was written and how easily it can be applied to real life. I honestly believe that the messages within the complete novel and within the quote will stick with me forever and hopefully will remind me that I always have to think of the universal connection between people.
