Paths and Journeys

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." This is a quote from Mitch Albom's, The Five People You Meet in Heaven. I agree with everything this quote means. I believe there is no such thing as events happening on accident. Everything happens for a reason. We might not know what the reasons for different events are at that moment in time, but at some point we will learn through the outcome of those events.
You can not separate a breeze from the wind because they are the same thing just at different speeds. We may never see a breeze or the wind, but we can always feel them. Also, every person is connected with the lives of others. We are all human, and although we may look different and have different personalities, we all have paths and journeys to take in life. Like the breeze and the wind, our journeys may not move at the same speed. Our paths may not cross at the same moment. One example of this in my life is through the veterans who served our country. These men and women choose the path and journey that dedicated their lives to protecting our country and myself even though they did not know me. Now I dedicate my time visiting and singing at the Louisiana War Veterans' Home. Through their bravery, I am able to live in a country where I am free to worship God openly and choose my own path in life.
The choices we make along our paths or journeys connect our lives with others. Eddie's choices in the book connected him to the lives of five other people. Our actions contribute to either a positive or negative reaction.  Just like we may never see a breeze or the wind, we may never see the influences our actions make on those around us immediately. However, we will always feel the impact of our actions through the happiness or sorrow that is encountered in the end.
