We ARE Connected
The statement,"There are no random acts" means the following to me. That no matter what we do the outcome will affect me and someone else in some way. For example, if someone was to drink and drive and get into an accident, that person is affecting themselves and others around them. Also, like in the book, careless actions such as retrieving a ball from the street without looking both ways will affect most people around you. This summer I went sailing with a team of Boyscouts. One of the guys decided to rip a hole in the sailbag where we stored our sails, we could not properly store the sails. Another thing that happened was that a boy was watching the anchor at night to make sure it stayed put and he fell asleep. This affected us all when we woke up to find ourselves slowly drifting away.
The quote,"That we are all connected." means the following to me. It means that everything WE do affects others as well. It means when you miss that block on the football field, your quarterback is going to be affected by a sack most of the time. It means that we all live this life and we should remember we are all equal. It is also like when the government declares war on other countries, you are each going to lose people and that will most likely affect each of them harshly. These are my thoughts on "There are no random acts" and "that we are all connected".
