The Continuity of Life

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more seperate one life from another than you can seperate a breeze from the wind."

No man is an island, and if you're sitting there wondering what on earth I am talking about, well it's just this:  Every action affects someone or something in some way. In regards to that, no man can say they live unto themselves. Ultimately, our lives are all connected. I do not believe in coincidence. So many things go unseen and unheard resulting in us not realizing this. The above quote sums this up.

While most people see this quote as a ripple effect, I also see that but have an additional perspective of it. Just like in the story Eddie meets someone that he had never met and later on gained knowledge that she was connected to him even though he was unaware. Ripple effects usually aren't revealed until someone passes away or becomes ill. Humans tend to be drawn to events such as a birth, an illness, and even death. This is because we realize the sanctity of life. As Marguerite stated in the book, love lasts forever even though life has to end.

In my life, I have a similar relationship to Eddie and Ruby. I have never met my biological father. In saying that, he has affected me. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for him, however, his choice to leave my mother will have an impact on me for the rest of my life. It will always leave me questioning, "Why?" My father passed away in 2002 when I was only two years old. I never really had the opportunity to meet him, being that young. Perhaps one day I may cross paths with a family member of my father. Perhaps he will be one of the five people I meet in heaven.
