We Are All Connected
To me, the quote "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind" means that everyone and everything is connected. All of us see people everyday. Some that we see are close enough for us to speak to, some maybe not so much. Either way, the experience may affect us in a positive or a negative way. An example that we are all connected is the Butterfly Effect. An example of the Butterfly Effect is being lazy and not paying attention in class, which means you fail the Leap test, which ultimately means you fail the grade. We can knowingly decide to help someone and know that in that moment, we are positively affecting that person. If that person feels affected by my decision to help, he or she may help someone else when a need is noticed.
The quote also means that everything happens for a reason. I believe every action has an effect, whether it is positive or negative. Every decision we make has an effect on the people around us, even strangers. Just like in the novel, Eddie was the cause of the Blue Man's death and he never knew it. Sometimes we make quick decisions and think of them to be harmless, but we never know what could happen to others based off that one decision. Would God, who created the universe, leave our existence to chance? God has a plan for everyone and he knows everything we do, even before we do it. There is no such thing as chance. Everything and every experience we go through, are meant for us to learn, or help someone else learn, a lesson. Sometimes people go through terrible things, but those terrible things make us stronger. Acts are not random because we are all connected and everything happens for a reason.
