The Chain

Life is like a chain. All of the links are connected and work together because they depend on each others' strength to survive. If one link breaks, the entire chain is broken apart.  The Blue Man says," That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." He is basically explaining the entire lesson of the novel.
That lesson is that one simple, ordinary act can  change another person's life, and then another, and then another. This is why The Blue Man says,"That we are all connected." When Eddie was small, he ran into the street after a ball, causing a man to swerve off the road. He did not know until after his death, but The Blue Man was driving the car that ran off the road. He later died of a heart attack, because of Eddie's impulsive decision to chase the ball. His seemingly small act caused a man's death. This happens to every single one of us every single day of our life. Sometimes we know the consequences of our decisions and other times we do not.
Our acts or choices can  alter someone else's life forever. Just like in a chain, all of our lives are connected and work together. When someone makes a decision, everybody around him or her is affected.
