"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." To me, this means that everything has already been planned out. Our fate has already been made. Every mean thing that someone does, every crime that is committed, was destined to happen. Even if someone does something completely uncalled-for, it was planned in some way. It also means that everybody impacts each other in some way. If your neighbor dies, it affects you and all your other neighbors, because everyone has to adjust to life without a friend that they had before. Even if you see a stranger die on the side of the street, you think of how fragile humans are and it makes you be more cautious and make better decisions to avoid death.
In The Five People You Meet in Heaven, when Eddie killed the blue man by running in front of his car, he affected the blue man by accidentally causing him to die of a heart attack, and affected the man's family by taking away one of their loved ones. The same thing happened when Marguerite was killed in a car accident. Her death greatly impacted Eddie and all of Eddie's friends by causing them grief and sadness. No matter what happens to anybody, you will be affected by it in some way. That is what the quote means to me.
