Unseen Bindings
"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." To me, this quote is simple, yet profound. In my eyes, I see this quote meaning that we are all, in some form, connected. I don't mean directly tied to each other or that we all know each other. I mean that secretly, we all have unseen bonds. The last sentence in the book sums this point up quite well. "...that each affects the other and the other affects the next, and the world is full of stories, but the stories are all one." Both of these quotes mean that everything happens for a reason. Just as the first one says, "That there are no random acts." This is the reason that Eddie meets the unique characters that he does in the book. He is not even familiar with a few of the people he meets in Heaven at first. For example, Eddie did not even share a relationship with the Blue Man. But despite their lack of familiarity, the Blue Man's death was associated with Eddie's child self. Eddie and everyone else in the book are connected just as I am connected with everyone else in real life. It would be impossible to separate any one life from another. We all play a part in each other's lives, whether it involves death, sacrifice, or happiness. All of our stories are one.
